The Short began when my vintage Waterman 52 1/2 fountain pen started leaking ink. I felt a sense of mission to create something that would retain its size while using a modern unit for peace of mind. I should have stopped for now, but ever since making the Short , I couldn't resist the desire to add a point (accent) to the balance. I created the blueprints, tools, equipment, and jigs to realize this, and the result is the Short+. I've kept the name "Short" to avoid further derivative works.
The accent is bubinga.
The ebonite parts are made of ebonite. Ebonite is a semi-natural resin invented by Goodyear in 1839, and was rated as such because of its appearance similar to ebony. It is not a plastic, but is classified as a "hard rubber" of natural rubber.
The nib, which can be said to be the heart of a fountain pen, is made by JOWO.
