Short + 2026 Spring collection (Red / Sky blue)

Spring is all about red and light blue, nemophila and anemone, tulips and sky, camellia and sky. This custom-ordered ebonite was created with the colors and proportions specified . Nikko Ebonite provided the material.

As this is our first attempt at custom coloring, the number of pieces is limited to 15. Ordered ebonite takes 5 months to deliver, so no additional pieces will be available.

The Short began when my vintage Waterman 52 1/2 fountain pen started leaking ink. I felt a sense of mission to create something that would retain its size while using a modern unit and be safe. I should have stopped there, but ever since making the Short, I couldn't resist the desire to add a point (accent) to the balance, so I drew up plans, created tools, equipment, and jigs to achieve this, and the Short+ was born. I've kept the name "Short" to avoid further derivative works.

About the material

What is the ebonite material? Ebonite is a semi-natural resin invented by Goodyear in 1839, named for its similar appearance to ebony. It is not a plastic, but is classified as a "hard rubber" of natural rubber. Ebonite is slightly porous. This gives it a soft, moist feel that clings to your hand , similar to human skin, not too cold and familiar to your fingers, and a warm texture. The more you use it, the more the oils from your hands will absorb into the shaft, giving it a rich character.

* Ebonite will become cloudy if exposed to UV rays for a long time. We recommend storing it in a dark place.

*Due to the nature of the material, the patterns are random as shown in the photo and no two pieces are the same.

* Three photos were taken to confirm the pattern differences.

The nib, which can be said to be the heart of a fountain pen, is made by JOWO.

The reservation period is from 8:00 PM on November 20, 2025 to 11:59 PM on December 20, 2025, with delivery in early February. A 10% deposit is required upon reservation. The remaining balance will be invoiced on February 10, and the item will be shipped after payment has been confirmed.
